Hi! Today we’re doing something really fun, at least in my opinion. I am a huge fan of thrifting, not only because it saves money and it’s good for the environment but because you can find some really cool stuff thrifting.
Thrifting is just amazing and I love it. So today I made four outfits out of some of my favorite thrifted pieces that I’m gonna share with you today. BUT HAL What qualifies as thrifted? So for the purposes of this video, I narrowed down thrifting to things that I purchased either through an online thrift store like Poshmark Depop, thredUP or just your regular thrift store, Goodwill or whatever mom-and-pop shop you have around.
I’m also going to show these to you in order of most normal to weirdest. Stay tuned and watch through all of them because they are gonna get weirder and weirder as things go on. And one more thing before we dive into the fashion, accessories and shoes in this video were not thrifted.
I have a weird thing against thrifting shoes, there’s like three things that I won’t ever thrift, with exception you’ll see in this video I did make an exception for one but the three things that I never thrift are shoes, underwear, and socks.
I guess socks on underwear kind of the same thing but like socks, tights, leggings things like that. A couple of my outfits in this video I do wear tights with those weren’t thrifted and my shoes were thrifted either.
Sorry to disappoint. I only really buy thrifted shoes if they’re new or like new and I haven’t ever found those so I’ve never bought those or if they’re like really strange and I need them for a cosplay.
There’s just something gross to me about thrifted shoes, probably because like when you wear shoes they kind of gradually form to your foot, so when you buy thrifted shoes they’re like formed to someone else’s foot so they don’t fit right then they’re kind of grimy, I don’t know, I mean no shade to you if you like buying thrifted shoes, it’s just not something that I’m into unless they’re basically new.
So on to the first outfit! So for the first outfit I wanted to do something kind of fun and springy because it’s that time of year. So for the top we have this really cute, peter pan collar ruffled short sleeve shirt and then for the shorts we have a pair of color-block denim shorts.
The shorts are actually forever21 shorts, I got them on Poshmark for I believe about $12 they’re really cute I love how high-waisted they are, and then the shirt I actually bought the shirt for an Isabelle cosplay which I haven’t finished yet but this is just so cute I love the ruffles it’s a little thin so I wear like a cami under or something you can kind of see how thin it is, and I got this on deep hop from a little vintage thrift store for I believe about the same price between $12-4 Oh and by the way I’m including shipping in these prices.
So yeah just a cute little two-piece lightweight top and some colorful shorts combo for the spring. The next outfit is this amazing holographic skirt and “I Need More Space” a hoodie. I’m gonna start with the skirt because it’s obviously the eye catcher here.
I got this at the local thrift store for four dollars. FOUR DOLLARS. I love it it’s just it’s got this alien vibe it’s flashy it’s fun it fits me great I love it. I think it’s handmade just by looking at it you can kind of see the stitching around the zipper and then the ends are unfinished which is fine I mean this kind of material doesn’t fray at all so it doesn’t even need to be finished but that to me that just makes it even cooler if it is handmade, because like somebody made this and it’s cool and they probably made it because they couldn’t find it anywhere else and they’re weird like me and have a weird sense of style and now I own it and it’s so cool and I love it.
And now the top is actually one of two things I ever bought from thredUP. This is actually the second of the shirt that I own. I bought one of these years ago at Ross and I love it so much. The next outfit isn’t necessarily how I would style this outfit but I thought it’d be fun to put all these together.
This is the Pusheen in Pink outfit. And this outfit is actually three things because the mesh hoodie has a matching bra and I did get the matching bra. This is where that exception to my “no buying underwear” rule comes from because it was new with tags when I bought it.
And then, like the fool that I am, I cut the sleeve in half when I was opening the bag. So it was new with tags and I cut the sleeve in half but then I stitched it back together and you can’t even see or feel that it was that way so it’s fine.
So this outfit consists of the Pusheen active bra the mesh active top and a galaxy Pusheen circle skirt. The skirt in the bra came from Depop and the active wear hoodie came from Poshmark. And last but not least, we have an outfit that I scoured the internet for years for because it sold out on the original website but this is the Dolls Kill Current Mood two-piece marching band outfit.
I love this. I absolutely love this. It’s so over the top, it’s so theatrical I remember when I first saw this on the Dolls Kill website I wanted it so badly but it was out of stock by the time I found out about it.
It was also I think regular price about forty to forty five dollars each for the top and the bottom and there was no way I was gonna pay over eighty dollars for this outfit so I was absolutely thrilled to have found it on Depop and it was $30 including shipping for the set.
And it is definitely a well-loved set the buttons are a little tarnished and the string holding them on is a little loose you can actually see that the shorts one of the buttons came off of I need to sew it back on but it’s it’s a heavy weight material it fits me so well I love the gold details, it has this pattern on the back and it has the really fun buttons up the front.
I have no idea what I would wear this for, I just absolutely love it I need to take more pictures in it it’s just so much fun to wear. It feels like a performance outfit and I am a theater kid at heart, so I need an excuse to wear this somewhere preferably on a stage.
So those are my four entirely thrifted outfits! I had a lot of fun putting this together, I hope you enjoyed seeing the weird things that I’ve bought So yeah I’ll probably do another one of these videos if you’re interested, it was a lot of fun to put together I’m also thinking about doing a video of just clothes I’ve made myself.
I’m a seamstress, I mostly do cosplay but I’ve also made some of my own clothes and I do have several outfits worth of things that I’ve made myself that I could put together into a video like this. Also, just kind of a channel update random side note thing if you follow me on Instagram you’ll know that I had a hair journey I went from brown to blue to bleached and pink and I recorded all of that with the intention of making a hair transformation video and then my laptop died yay the good news I mean it’s bad news cuz my laptop died but the good news is it was the motherboard and not the hard drive which meant that all of my files were saved so I got an external hard drive dock, and I managed to save all my files so I have everything I’ll be able to put that video together and I’ll have it up soonish but that’s why I haven’t posted anything in a while.
So yeah let me know what you think down in the comments below thank you for watching and I’ll see you in the next one
